حَدَّثَنَا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ جَابِرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّ ّالنَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ مَنْ تَسَمَّى بِاسْمِي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَلَا يَتَكَنَّى بِكُنْيَتِي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَمَنْ تَكَنَّى بِكُنْيَتِي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَلَا يَتَسَمَّى بِاسْمِي ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ أبو داود:‏‏‏‏ وَرَوَى بِهَذَا الْمَعْنَى ابْنُ عَجْلَانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِيهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَرُوِيَ عَنْ أَبِي زُرْعَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ مُخْتَلِفًا عَلَى الرِّوَايَتَيْنِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَكَذَلِكَ رِوَايَةُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي عَمْرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ،‏‏‏‏ اخْتُلِفَ فِيهِ رَوَاهُ الثَّوْرِيُّ،‏‏‏‏ وَابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ عَلَى مَا قال أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَرَوَاهُ مَعْقِلُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ،‏‏‏‏ عَلَى مَا قال ابْنُ سِيرِينَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَاخْتُلِفَ فِيهِ عَلَى مُوسَى بْنِ يَسَارٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَيْضًا عَلَى الْقَوْلَيْنِ اخْتَلَفَ فِيهِ حَمَّادُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ.

Urdu Translation

جابر رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: جو میرا نام رکھے، وہ میری کنیت نہ رکھے، اور جو میری کنیت رکھے، وہ میرا نام نہ رکھے ۔ ابوداؤد کہتے ہیں: اسی مفہوم کی حدیث ابن عجلان نے اپنے والد سے، اور انہوں نے ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت کی ہے، اور ابوزرعہ کی روایت ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے ان دونوں روایتوں سے مختلف روایت کی گئی ہے، اور اسی طرح عبدالرحمٰن بن ابی عمرہ کی روایت جسے انہوں نے ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت کیا ہے اس میں بھی کچھ اختلاف ہے، اسے ثوری اور ابن جریج نے ابو الزبیر کی طرح روایت کیا ہے، اور اسے معقل بن عبیداللہ نے ابن سیرین کی طرح روایت کیا ہے، اور جسے موسیٰ بن یسار نے ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت کیا ہے اس میں بھی اختلاف کیا گیا ہے، حماد بن خالد اور ابن ابی فدیک کے دو مختلف قول ہیں ۱؎۔

English Translation

Narrated Jabir ibn Abdullah: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: If anyone is called by my name, he must not be given my kunyah (surname), and if anyone uses my kunyah (surname), he must not be called by my name. Abu Dawud said: Ibn 'Ajlan transmitted it to the same effect from his father on the authority if Abu Hurairah. It has also been transmitted by Abu Zar'ah from Abu Hurairah in two different versions. And similar is the version of Abdur-Rahman bin Abi Amrah from Abu Hurairah. This version is disputed: Al-Thawri and Ibn Juraij transmitted it according to the version of Abu al-Zubair; and Maqil bin Ubaid Allah transmitted it according to the version of Ibn Sirin. It is again dispted on Musa bin Yasar from Abu Hurariah, transmitting it in two versions: Hammad bin Khalid and Ibn Abi Fudaik varied in their versions.
