أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنْبَأَنَا شَرِيكٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ طَلْحَةَ بْنِ يَحْيَى بْنِ طَلْحَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَتْ:‏‏‏‏ دَارَ عَلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ دَوْرَةً، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَعِنْدَكِ شَيْءٌ ؟ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَتْ:‏‏‏‏ لَيْسَ عِنْدِي شَيْءٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَأَنَا صَائِمٌ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَتْ:‏‏‏‏ ثُمَّ دَارَ عَلَيَّ الثَّانِيَةَ وَقَدْ أُهْدِيَ لَنَا حَيْسٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَجِئْتُ بِهِ فَأَكَلَ فَعَجِبْتُ مِنْهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقُلْتُ:‏‏‏‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ! دَخَلْتَ عَلَيَّ وَأَنْتَ صَائِمٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ أَكَلْتَ حَيْسًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ نَعَمْ يَا عَائِشَةُ إِنَّمَا مَنْزِلَةُ مَنْ صَامَ فِي غَيْرِ رَمَضَانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَوْ غَيْرِ قَضَاءِ رَمَضَانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَوْ فِي التَّطَوُّعِ بِمَنْزِلَةِ رَجُلٍ أَخْرَجَ صَدَقَةَ مَالِهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَجَادَ مِنْهَا بِمَا شَاءَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَمْضَاهُ وَبَخِلَ مِنْهَا بِمَا بَقِيَ فَأَمْسَكَهُ .

Urdu Translation

ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی الله عنہا کہتی ہیں کہ   ایک بار رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم گھوم کر میرے پاس آئے اور پوچھا: ”تمہارے پاس کوئی چیز ( کھانے کی ) ہے؟“ میں نے عرض کیا، میرے پاس کوئی چیز نہیں ہے، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”پھر تو میں روزہ رکھ لیتا ہوں“، پھر ایک اور بار میرے پاس آئے، اس وقت ہمارے پاس حیس ہدیہ میں آیا ہوا تھا، تو میں اسے لے کر آپ کے پاس حاضر ہوئی تو آپ نے اسے کھایا، تو مجھے اس بات سے حیرت ہوئی، میں نے عرض کیا: اللہ کے رسول! آپ ہمارے پاس آئے تو روزہ سے تھے پھر بھی آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے حیس کھا لیا؟ آپ نے فرمایا: ”ہاں عائشہ! جس نے کوئی روزہ رکھا لیکن وہ روزہ رمضان کا یا رمضان کی قضاء کا نہ ہو، یا نفلی روزہ ہو تو وہ اس شخص کی طرح ہے جس نے اپنے مال میں سے ( نفلی ) صدقہ نکالا، پھر اس میں سے جتنا چاہا سخاوت کر کے دے دیا اور جو بچ رہا بخیلی کر کے اسے روک لیا“ ۱؎۔

English Translation

It was narrated that 'Aishah said: The Messenger of Allah passed by my door. He said: 'Do you have anything (to eat)?' I said 'I do not have anything.' He said 'Then he passed by my door a second time and we had been given some Hais. I brought it to him and he ate, and I was surprised. I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, you were fasting, then you ate Hais.' He said: 'Yes, O 'Aishah. The one who observes a fast other than in Ramadan, or making up a missed Ramadan, fast, is like a man who allocated some of is wealth to give in charity; if he wishes he may go ahead and give it, and if he wishes he may keep it. '
