It was narrated from 'Aishah that she said: Praise be to Allah Whose hearing encompasses all voices. Khawlah came to the Messenger of Allah complaining about her husband, but I could not hear what she said. Then Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, revealed: 'Indeed Allah has heard the statement of her that disputes with you concerning her husband, and complains to Allah. And Allah hears the argument between you both.'

أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاق بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَنْبَأَنَا جَرِيرٌ،‏‏‏‏ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ تَمِيمِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عُرْوَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ:‏‏‏‏ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي وَسِعَ سَمْعُهُ الْأَصْوَاتَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏لَقَدْ جَاءَتْ خَوْلَةُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏تَشْكُو زَوْجَهَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَكَانَ يَخْفَى عَلَيَّ كَلَامُهَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ:‏‏‏‏ قَدْ سَمِعَ اللَّهُ قَوْلَ الَّتِي تُجَادِلُكَ فِي زَوْجِهَا وَتَشْتَكِي إِلَى اللَّهِ وَاللَّهُ يَسْمَعُ تَحَاوُرَكُمَا سورة المجادلة آية 1 .

ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی الله عنہا کہتی ہیں کہ   تمام تعریفیں اللہ کے لیے سزاوار ہیں جو ہر آواز سنتا ہے، خولہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس آ کر اپنے شوہر کی شکایت کرنے لگیں ( کہ انہوں نے ان سے ظہار کر لیا ہے ) ان کی باتیں مجھے سنائی نہ پڑ رہی تھیں، تو اللہ عزوجل نے «قد سمع اللہ قول التي تجادلك في زوجها وتشتكي إلى اللہ واللہ يسمع تحاوركما» اتاری ( جس سے ہم سبھی کو معلوم ہو گیا کہ کیا باتیں ہو رہی تھیں ) ۔
