Baab Zaib O Zeenat Aur Araish Ke Ehkaam O Masail

أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَنْبَأَنَا أَسْبَاطٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مُغِيرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مَطَرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي شَيْخٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ بَيْنَمَا نَحْنُ مَعَ مُعَاوِيَةَ،‏‏‏‏ فِي بَعْضِ حَجَّاتِهِ،‏‏‏‏ إِذْ جَمَعَ رَهْطًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ لَهُمْ:‏‏‏‏ أَلَسْتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ نَهَى عَنْ لُبْسِ الذَّهَبِ إِلَّا مُقَطَّعًا ،‏‏‏‏ قَالُوا:‏‏‏‏ اللَّهُمَّ نَعَمْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏خَالَفَهُ يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ عَلَى اخْتِلَافٍ بَيْنَ أَصْحَابِهِ عَلَيْهِ.

Urdu Translation

ابوشیخ کہتے ہیں کہ   ہم لوگ ایک مرتبہ حج میں معاویہ رضی اللہ عنہ کے ساتھ تھے، اسی دوران انہوں نے صحابہ کرام کی ایک جماعت اکٹھا کی اور ان سے کہا: کیا آپ کو نہیں معلوم کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے سونا پہننے سے منع فرمایا ہے؟ مگر ریزہ ریزہ کر کے۔ لوگوں نے کہا: جی ہاں۔ ( ابوعبدالرحمٰن نسائی کہتے ہیں: ) یحییٰ بن ابی کثیر نے مطر کے خلاف روایت کی ہے جب کہ یحییٰ بن ابی کثیر کے شاگرد خود ان سے روایت کرنے میں مختلف ہیں۔

English Translation

It was narrated that Abu Shaikh said: While we were with Mu'awiyah on one of his pilgrimages, he gathered together a group of the Companions of Muhammad [SAW] and said to them: 'Do you not know that the Messenger of Allah [SAW] forbade wearing gold unless it was broken (into smaller pieces)?' They said: 'By Allah, yes.'
