Baab Zaib O Zeenat Aur Araish Ke Ehkaam O Masail

أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيل، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ اتَّخَذَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَاتَمَ الذَّهَبِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَلَبِسَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَاتَّخَذَ النَّاسُ خَوَاتِيمَ الذَّهَبِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ إِنِّي كُنْتُ أَلْبَسُ هَذَا الْخَاتَمَ وَإِنِّي لَنْ أَلْبَسَهُ أَبَدًا ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَنَبَذَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَنَبَذَ النَّاسُ خَوَاتِيمَهُمْ.

Urdu Translation

عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے سونے کی انگوٹھی بنوائی، پھر اسے پہنا، تو لوگوں نے بھی سونے کی انگوٹھی بنوائی، آپ نے فرمایا: ”میں یہ انگوٹھی پہنتا تھا لیکن اب کبھی نہیں پہنوں گا“ اور اسے پھینک دی تو لوگوں نے بھی اپنی انگوٹھیاں پھینک دیں۔

English Translation

It was narrated that Ibn 'Umar said: The Messenger of Allah [SAW] started to wear a gold ring, and the people started to wear gold rings. The Messenger of Allah [SAW] said: 'I was wearing this ring, but I will never wear it again.' He threw it away and the people threw their rings away.'
