It was narrated from ‘Abdullah bin Salam that he heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) saying on the pulpit one Friday: “There is nothing wrong with anyone of you buying two garments for Friday (prayer), other than his daily work clothes.” (Another chain) from Yusuf bin Abdullah bin Salam that his father said: The Prophet delivered a sermon to us and he mentioned that.

حَدَّثَنَا حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْمُوسَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى بْنِ حَبَّانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سَلَامٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ فِي يَوْمِ الْجُمُعَةِ:‏‏‏‏ مَا عَلَى أَحَدِكُمْ لَوِ اشْتَرَى ثَوْبَيْنِ لِيَوْمِ الْجُمُعَةِ سِوَى ثَوْبِ مِهْنَتِهِ .

عبداللہ بن سلام رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ   انہوں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو جمعہ کے دن منبر پہ فرماتے ہوئے سنا: کیا اچھا ہوتا کہ تم میں سے ہر شخص جمعہ کے لیے اپنے عام استعمال کے کپڑوں کے علاوہ دو کپڑے خرید لے ۱؎۔
