It was narrated that Iyas bin Abi Ramlah Ash-Shami said: “I heard a man asking Zaid bin Arqam: ‘Were you present with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) when there were two ‘Eid on one day?’ He said: ‘Yes.’ He said: ‘What did he do?’ He said: ‘He prayed the ‘Eid prayer, then he granted a concession not to pray the Friday, then he said: “Whoever wants to pray (Friday), let him do so.”’”

حَدَّثَنَا نَصْرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْجَهْضَمِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ إِيَاسِ بْنِ أَبِي رَمْلَةَ الشَّامِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ سَمِعْتُ رَجُلًا سَأَلَ زَيْدَ بْنَ أَرْقَمَ:‏‏‏‏ هَلْ شَهِدْتَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عِيدَيْنِ فِي يَوْمٍ؟، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ نَعَمْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَكَيْفَ كَانَ يَصْنَعُ؟، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ صَلَّى الْعِيدَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ رَخَّصَ فِي الْجُمُعَةِ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ مَنْ شَاءَ أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ فَلْيُصَلِّ .

ایاس بن ابورملہ شامی کہتے ہیں کہ   میں نے ایک آدمی کو زید بن ارقم رضی اللہ عنہ سے پوچھتے ہوئے سنا: کیا آپ نے نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے ساتھ کبھی ایک ہی دن دو عید میں حاضر رہے؟ انہوں نے کہا: جی ہاں، اس آدمی نے کہا: تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کیسے کرتے تھے؟ انہوں نے کہا: آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے عید پڑھائی پھر جمعہ کے بارے میں رخصت دے دی اور فرمایا: جو پڑھنا چاہے پڑھے ۱؎۔
