It was narrated from ‘Abdullah bin ‘Umar that ‘Umar bin Khattab saw a silken two piece suit (being offered for sale). He said: “O Messenger of Allah, why don’t you buy this two piece suit (to wear for meeting) the delegations, and on Fridays?” The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “This is only worn by one who has no share in the Hereafter.”

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ،‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحِيمِ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ نَافِعٍ،‏‏‏‏ أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ أَخْبَرَهُ،‏‏‏‏ أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ رَأَى حُلَّةً سِيَرَاءَ مِنْ حَرِيرٍ،‏‏‏‏ فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏لَوِ ابْتَعْتَ هَذِهِ الْحُلَّةَ لِلْوَفْدِ وَلِيَوْمِ الْجُمُعَةِ،‏‏‏‏ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّمَا يَلْبَسُ هَذِا مَنْ لَا خَلَاقَ لَهُ فِي الْآخِرَةِ .

عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ   عمر بن خطاب رضی اللہ عنہ نے ریشم کا ایک سرخ جوڑا دیکھا تو کہا: اللہ کے رسول! اگر آپ اس جوڑے کو وفود سے ملنے کے لیے اور جمعہ کے دن پہننے کے لیے خرید لیتے تو اچھا ہوتا تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: اسے وہ لوگ پہنتے ہیں جن کا آخرت میں کوئی حصہ نہیں ہوتا ۔
