It was narrated from Jabir that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “I have been commanded to fight the people until they say: La ilaha illallah. If they say: La ilaha illallah, then their blood and wealth are protected from me, except for a right that is due from it, and their reckoning will be with Allah.”

حَدَّثَنَا سُوَيْدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ،‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُسْهِرٍ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ جَابِرٍ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ أُمِرْتُ أَنْ أُقَاتِلَ النَّاسَ،‏‏‏‏ حَتَّى يَقُولُوا:‏‏‏‏ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ،‏‏‏‏ فَإِذَا قَالُوا:‏‏‏‏ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ،‏‏‏‏ عَصَمُوا مِنِّي دِمَاءَهُمْ وَأَمْوَالَهُمْ،‏‏‏‏ إِلَّا بِحَقِّهَا،‏‏‏‏ وَحِسَابُهُمْ عَلَى اللَّهِ .

جابر رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: مجھے یہ حکم دیا گیا ہے کہ میں اس وقت تک لوگوں سے لڑتا رہوں جب تک وہ «لا إله إلا الله» کا اقرار نہ کر لیں، جب انہوں نے اس کا اقرار کر لیا، تو اپنے مال اور اپنی جان کو مجھ سے بچا لیا، مگر ان کے حق کے بدلے، اور ان کا حساب اللہ تعالیٰ کے سپرد ہے ۔
