It was narrated that ‘Abdullah said: “The Prophet (ﷺ) said to me: ‘Recite Qur’an to me,’ so I recited Surat An-Nisa’ to him, and when I reached (the Verse): “How (will it be) then, when We bring forth from each nation a witness and We bring you as a witness against these people?” [4:41] I looked at him, and his eyes were filled with tears.”

حَدَّثَنَا هَنَّادُ بْنُ السَّرِيِّ،‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَال لِي النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ اقْرَأْ عَلَيَّ ،‏‏‏‏ فَقَرَأْتُ عَلَيْهِ بِسُورَةِ النِّسَاءِ،‏‏‏‏ حَتَّى إِذَا بَلَغْتُ:‏‏‏‏ فَكَيْفَ إِذَا جِئْنَا مِنْ كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ بِشَهِيدٍ وَجِئْنَا بِكَ عَلَى هَؤُلاءِ شَهِيدًا سورة النساء آية 41،‏‏‏‏ فَنَظَرْتُ إِلَيْهِ فَإِذَا عَيْنَاهُ تَدْمَعَانِ.

عبداللہ بن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے مجھ سے فرمایا: میرے سامنے قرآن کی تلاوت کرو ، تو میں نے آپ کے سامنے سورۃ نساء کی تلاوت کی یہاں تک کہ جب میں اس آیت «فكيف إذا جئنا من كل أمة بشهيد وجئنا بك على هؤلاء شهيدا» تو اس وقت کیا حال ہو گا جب ہم ہر امت میں سے ایک گواہ لائیں گے اور پھر ہم تم کو ان لوگوں پر گواہ بنا کر لائیں گے ( سورة النساء: 41 ) پر پہنچا تو میں نے آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی طرف دیکھا آپ کی آنکھوں سے آنسو بہہ رہے تھے ۱؎۔
