Baab Jannat Ka Wasf Aur Is Ki Naimaton Ka Tazkira

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى،‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ،‏‏‏‏ أَنْبَأَنَا مَعْمَرٌ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ رَجُلٌ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ كَيْفَ لِي أَنْ أَعْلَمَ إِذَا أَحْسَنْتُ وَإِذَا أَسَأْتُ؟ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ إِذَا سَمِعْتَ جِيرَانَكَ يَقُولُونَ:‏‏‏‏ أَنْ قَدْ أَحْسَنْتَ فَقَدْ أَحْسَنْتَ،‏‏‏‏ وَإِذَا سَمِعْتَهُمْ يَقُولُونَ قَدْ أَسَأْتَ فَقَدْ أَسَأْتَ .

Urdu Translation

عبداللہ بن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   ایک شخص نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے عرض کیا: جب میں کوئی اچھا کام کروں تو کیسے سمجھوں کہ میں نے اچھا کام کیا ہے؟ اور جب برا کام کروں تو کیسے جانوں کہ میں نے برا کام کیا ہے؟ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: جب تم اپنے پڑوسیوں کو کہتے ہوئے سنو کہ تم نے اچھا کام کیا ہے، تو سمجھ لو کہ تم نے اچھا کام کیا ہے، اور جب تمہارے پڑوسی کہیں کہ تم نے برا کام کیا ہے، تو سمجھ لو کہ تم نے برا کام کیا ہے ۔

English Translation

It was narrated that ‘Abdullah said: “A man said to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ): ‘How can I know when I have done well and when I have done something bad?’ The Prophet (ﷺ) said: ‘If you hear your neighbors saying that you have done well, then you have done well, and if you hear them saying that you have done something bad, then you have done something bad.’”
