4265 It was narrated from Anas that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “None of you should wish for death because of some harm that befalls him. If he must wish for death, let him say: ‘O Allah, keep me alive so long as living is good for me and cause me to die when death is good for me.’”

حَدَّثَنَا عِمْرَانُ بْنُ مُوسَى،‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ،‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ صُهَيْبٍ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ أَنَسٍ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ لَا يَتَمَنَّى أَحَدُكُمُ الْمَوْتَ لِضُرٍّ نَزَلَ بِهِ،‏‏‏‏ فَإِنْ كَانَ لَا بُدَّ مُتَمَنِّيًا الْمَوْتَ فَلْيَقُلْ:‏‏‏‏ اللَّهُمَّ أَحْيِنِي مَا كَانَتِ الْحَيَاةُ خَيْرًا لِي،‏‏‏‏ وَتَوَفَّنِي إِذَا كَانَتِ الْوَفَاةُ خَيْرًا لِي .

انس رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: تم میں سے کوئی کسی مصیبت کی وجہ سے جو اس کو پیش آئے موت کی تمنا نہ کرے، اگر موت کی خواہش کی ضرورت پڑ ہی جائے تو یوں کہے: اے اللہ! مجھے زندہ رکھ جب تک جینا میرے لیے بہتر ہو، اور مجھے موت دے اگر مرنا میرے لیے بہتر ہو ۔
