حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَيُّوبَ بْنِ مُوسَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ رَافِعٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَتْ:‏‏‏‏ قُلْتُ:‏‏‏‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ إِنِّي امْرَأَةٌ أَشُدُّ ضَفْرَ رَأْسِي أَفَأَنْقُضُهُ لِغُسْلِ الْجَنَابَةِ؟ فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّمَا يَكْفِيكِ أَنْ تَحْثِي عَلَيْهِ ثَلَاثَ حَثَيَاتٍ مِنْ مَاءٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ تُفِيضِي عَلَيْكِ مِنَ الْمَاءِ فَتَطْهُرِينَ أَوْ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَإِذَا أَنْتِ قَدْ طَهُرْتِ .

Urdu Translation

ام المؤمنین ام سلمہ رضی اللہ عنہا کہتی ہیں کہ   میں نے عرض کیا: اللہ کے رسول! میں چوٹی کو مضبوطی سے باندھنے والی عورت ہوں، کیا اسے غسل جنابت کے لیے کھولوں؟ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: تمہیں یہی کافی ہے کہ تین چلو پانی لے کر اپنے سر پر بہا لو پھر پورے بدن پر پانی ڈالو، پاک ہو جاؤ گی ، یا آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ: اس وقت تم پاک ہو گئیں ۱؎۔

English Translation

It was narrated that Umm Salamah said: I said, O Messenger of Allah! I am a woman with tight braids. Should I undo them when I take a bath to cleanse myself from the state of sexual impurity? He said: Rather it is sufficient for you to pour three handfuls of water over yourself, and you will be purified, or he said: In that case you would have become purified.
