Wash and soak daal for 30 min. and pressure cook with 1/4 tsp turmericpowder till it is soft. Heat oil and ghee in a heavy pan and splutter cumin seeds, then put ginger, green chillies and onion. When the onion is soft and cooked, put the daal and adjust salt. Add a cup or two of water so that the consistency is not too thin nor too thick. Chop fresh coriander leaves and add before serving.
