Is not He (the One) who
responds to the distressed one when he calls out to Him (Surah naml )
Dua Before the End of Salat
After a person has finished his tashahhud, and before he actually says salam, he
should supplicate with any dua from (quran or hadith ) that he likes, as this is
one of the times of response.
Ibn Mas ud narrates: I was once praying, and the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ,
Abu Bakr, and (Umar (were all present). When I sat down (in the final tashahhud),
I praised Allah, then sent salams on the Prophet , then started praying for
myself. At this, the Prophet(صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ), said: Ask, and you shall be
given it.
Du’ a After the Salat
There are numerous narrations that show that this time period is one during
which dua( as are answered. Abu Umamah al-Bahili asked the Prophet(صلی اللہ علیہ
وسلم ), “O Messenger of Allah! Which du’ a is the most likely to be responded
to?” The Prophet(صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم), replied: In the last part of the night,
and after the obligatory prayers”
In fact, the Prophet ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) stressed this time period to those
whom he loved, for he said to Mu adhibnJabal 0 Mu’ adh! I swear by Allah, I love
you. Therefore, do not forget to say after each prayer, ‘O Allah help me to
remember You, and to thank You, and to perfect my worship for You’.
An Hour on Friday
There is a special hour on Friday, during which all prayers are accepted and
answered by Allah, all Glory and Praise be to Him. This is part of the blessings
that Allah has blessed this day with, over all the other days of the week.
Abu Hurayrah narrated that the Prophet ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) said: On Friday,
there is an hour during which, if any Muslim is standing in front of Allah in
salat, and asking Allah for something good, he will be granted his request.”
Then he made a sign with his hands, showing that it was a very short period of
time There are numerous opinions as to the exact hour of Friday during which
this occurs, but two opinions are the strongest: when the Imam sits down between
the two khuthahs until the end of the khutbah, and after the Asr prayer until
the Maghrib,
When Waking up at Night
When a person wakes up in the middle of the night, only to go back to sleep
again, if he remembers Allah at this time, his dua will be accepted.
The Prophet ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) stated: Whoever wakes up at night, and says,
‘La ilahailla Allah Wahdahu la sharikalah, lahu al-mulkwalahual-l;amdwahuwaalakullishay’inQadir.
Albamdulillah, waSuhban Allah, wa la ilaha ilia Allah, waAllahuakbar, wa la
bawlawa la quwwata ilia bi Allah’, and then says, ‘O Allah, forgive me’ or makes
a du’ a, then he will be responded to. And if he performs wudu and prays, then
his prayer will be accepted
After Performing Wudhu
The prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said There is no one amongst you that makes wudu,
and does so perfectly, and then says, ‘I testify that there is no deity worthy
of worship except Allah. He is alone, having no partners. And I bear witness and
testify that Muhammad is His slave and messenger’, except that aJJ eight doors
of Paradise are opened for him, and he can enter into it through whichever one
he pleases.
While Visiting the Sick
Umm Salamah narrated that the Prophet ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) said: “When you
visit the sick, or the dead (body before its burial) then say good, because the
angels say, Amin to whatever you say.
When Rain Falls
SahlibnSaad narrated that the Prophet ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) said: “Two are the
dua’s that are never returned: the du’ a made when the prayer is being called,
and at the time of rainfall”
Before zuhr
The Prophet ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم), would pray four rakahs after the sun had
reached its zenith (but before zuuhr), and he said,This is an hour during which
the gates of the skies are opened, and I like that some of my good acts are
raised up at this time
At the Crowing of a Rooster
Abu Hurayrah narrated that the Prophet ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) said: When you hear
a rooster crowing, then ask Allah for His Bounties, for it has seen an angel,
and when you hear a donkey braying, then seek refuge in Allah from Shaytan, for
it has seen a shaytaan.
The Person who has been Wronged
Anasibn Malik reported that the Prophet ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) said: Fear the du’
a of he who has been wronged, even if he is disbeliever for there remains no
veil between it .
Three people’s dua as are never rejected: the one who is fasting, until he
breaks his fast; the just ruler; and the one who has been wronged. Allah raises
it above the clouds, and the doors of the skies are opened for it, and the Lord
says, ‘By My Honour and Glory! I will help you, even if it be after some time!
After a Calamity
Umm Salamah narrated that the Prophet(صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) said: There is no
Muslim that is afflicted with a calamity, and he says what Allah has commanded
him to say: ‘To Allah we belong and to Him we will return! 0 Allah! Give me the
rewards (of being patient over) this calamity, and grant me something better
than it to replace it,’ except that Allah will give him something better to
replace it.
Umm Salamah said, “So when (my husband) Abu Salamah died, I said this dua, but
could not help thinking, ‘Who is better than Abu Salamah (i.e. no one can
replace Abu Salamah) ?’ Then the Prophet ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) himself sent me a
messenger proposing to me, so Allah blessed me with someone better than Abo
Salamah”
The Traveller
Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم stated “Three are the du as that are responded to,
there is no doubt concerning them: the du’ a of he who has been wronged, the
traveller, and the du’ a of the father for his son.
The Dua for a Person in his Absence
Abu al-Darda reported that the Prophet ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) said: There is no
Muslim worshipper who prays for his brother (Muslim) in his absence except that
an angel says, ‘And to you b et h e same.
The Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم stated The du’ a of a Muslim for his brother in
his absence is responded to. There is an angel in front of him that has been
assigned to him; every time he makes a du’ ii for his brother with good, the
angel assigned to him says, ‘Amin! And to you the same
To Make Dua at All Times
The Prophet ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) stated: Whoever wishes that Allah responds to
his dua at times of hardship then let him increase his dua at a times of ease .
And Ibn (Abbas narrated that he was once riding behind the Prophet ( صلی اللہ
علیہ وسلم) on a mount when he ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) said: “O youth! Do you not
wish that I should teach you some advice that Allah will benefit you with? I
responded, “Yes!” He then said Protect (the commandments) of Allah, and Allah
will protect you, protect ( the commandments) of Allah, and you will find Him
ever in front of you. Know Him when you are in a state of contentment, and He
will know you when you are in a state of need
The meaning of this hadith is that if a person worships Allah and remembers Him
at times of ease, then Allah will remember and help him at times of hardship.
