Child labor refers to the exploitation of children through any form of work that deprives them of their childhood, interferes with their ability to attend regular school, and is mentally, physically , sociality and morality and harmful.
The most important factor which causes child labor in Pakistan has been the social causes. First the general nature of social system has been particular in nature. There are also certain causes which leads to over population which in long run can overburden the family. About 3.3 million of Pakistani children are trapped in child labor, depriving them of their childhood , health and education and condemning them to a life of poverty and want
Child labor has found to be associated with a number of health outcomes, including but not limited to poor growth, malnutrition, higher incidence of infectious and system- specific diseases, behavioral and emotional disorders , and decreased copying efficiency. Child support can result in extreme bodily and mental harm and even death.
Child labor can lead to slavery and sexual or economic exploitation . And in nearly every case, it cuts off children from schooling and health care, restricting their fundamental rights and education.
Media is playing a role to stop child labor by giving awareness about the child labor and its negative effects.
Series of media products including television and radio drama, talk shows, news paper articles have been broadcasted to enhance public awareness on and fight against worst forms of child labor.
Government can play a role in reducing child labor by providing the basic facilities and education to people.
Free education holds the key to eliminate child labor. Parents do not have money for school fees can use this as an opportunity to provide their children with education.
Developing systems for providing youth removed from hazardous work and worst forms of child labor with support services and second chances for education, training and securing decent work.
