Education Negligence; A tragedy For Pakistan Progress

Introduction:
Education is the process of training a man to fulfill his aim by exercising all the faculties to fullest extent as a member of society.
Importance of Education:
Education is a process of gaining knowledge and holding up skills. Its is consider an important tool for moving in society.
As George Washington said:
“Education is the key to unlock the golden door of freedom.”
Vital Role of Education in Development of Countries:
Developing countries should have to recognize the importance of education and must focus on the development of high values educational system because a sound education system works effectively four sustainable developments of economy as well as society.
According to Muhammad Ali Jinnah:
“Education is the matter of life and death for Muslims.”
Educational Promotes National Interest:
Education helps in promoting national interest of a country According to Erasmus:
“The main hope of a nation lies in proper education of its youth.”
The highly educated society has a critical intelligence of an exceptional order. Educated person have wisdom and knowledge to work for betterments of country.
Education System in Pakistan:
Pakistan education system is divided into different level. i.e.
1st____ 5th Class elementary level
6th____8th Class middle or junior
9th______10th Class High level
11th____12th Class Intermediate level
Till_____16th Class Graduate level
Pakistan education system is adopted from British since time of independence.
Literacy Rate in Pakistan:
According to “Pakistan Social and Living Standard Measurement” district level survey 2019-2020 literacy rate of population (10 years and above) is stagnant at 60% in 2019-2020.
According to IFRC 2023 report country’s literacy rate stand at 58.9% in 20223.
Flaws in Education System in Pakistan:
Pakistan being a developing country is facing a several educational crises.
(a) Child out of Schools:
It is estimated that more than 55 million age 10 years Pakistani’s are unable to read and write and there are 7 million children of age 5-9 year are out of school.
(b) Poor allocation of Budget:
The authorities are bond to spend too less in education. The successive governments have given 2.5% for education which can’t fulfills need of education. Public education is facing paucity of resources as 89% educational budget is allocated for salaries of teachers and staff and only 11% is left for development.
(c) Outdated syllabus:
20 years old syllabus is implemented in most of institutions. Pakistan education system has been designed in way that social, political sciences, and economic consciousness. It lets` them be misled by morally dwindled characters of our politics and carried away by their outwardly vibrant but inwardly crooked and sweeping slogans.
(d) Theoretical education:
Pakistan education system is un able to educates students with practical skills rather they only read books to pass exams. Due to this issue, even degree holders do not have any skill to utilize and earn a happy life. They only depend on job which also need practical skills in this modern age.
(e) No Teaching Quality:
Teaching is considered the most special and important field as it is backbone of education system of every country. In Pakistan, those who become un successful in their field and they do not know what to do with their degree, they join teaching to ruin the educational system by their unprofessional skills.
(f) No career counseling:
Most of students have no idea at primary level that what field they should choose to specialize in. It is very unfortunate that there is no counseling provided in Pakistan educational institutions.
Solution to flaws of education system:
If government of Pakistan starts to focus on its education system and they to remove all flaws of system then education will lead to progress of country. There are several ways to solve the problems of system as
(1) We should focus on including tech-based courses such as coding, block chain and data analysis in curriculum for students at an early age.
(2) Frequent training of teachers related to new practices being introduced in their fields of teaching such as emotional intelligence, empathy and communication skills with children is key to unlock a better faculty structure in education system of Pakistan.
(3) Encouraging students led societies and communities. If freedom is given to operate students led societies have ability to unlock the potential of countless students by teaching them valuable skills in life.
(4) Providing a wide range of subjects to choose from early on.
(5) The curriculum should be advanced at least yearly.
Conclusion:
Education is the backbone of a country but unfortunately, our country fails to understand it. Education negligence led Pakistan to be in lowest grade of development. If the government improved education system then country will be on route of progress and prosperity.
