UNEXPECTED HAPPINESS FOR PUBLIC
(Hafiz Muhammad Noman , Karachi)
It is said that if your
intention or will is positive, your success is sure or else the situation
remains status quo. It was recently observed on Sindh Culture Day when Interior
Minister Sindh Manzoor Wasan came to Karachi. His arrival at National Highway
surprised commuters as the flow of traffic was unusual. None could believe that
a minister has visited Karachi.
It usually happens that when any minister or government high-up enters Karachi,
the traffic is jammed badly that the public starts cursing the officials. But on
Sindhi Cap and Ajrak day, the national highway where the traffic is always
jammed badly especially in the evening was clear and traffic flow was
uninterrupted amazingly.
Before praising the minister for this state of affairs, it is noticeable that
just one traffic warden is deployed in regular days to control the traffic flow.
When the warden cannot control the traffic by himself, he disappears from the
site leaving the traffic jam. When Manzoor Wasan went through the place, there
were three to four wardens that were controlling the traffic and surely they
succeeded in providing relief to the minister. Resultantly, the public
definitely benefited from the situation and they all reached their homes before
the time they usually reach and their families would sigh of relief too.
It is a pity that the government officials are exempted from any difficulties
that are being faced by the public. Have the so-called ministers ever faced or
stuck in traffic jam? Have they ever travelled on public buses to know how the
public travel and reach their destinations? I believe not! If three to four
wardens could be deployed on Sindh Culture Day to relief the minister, why can’t
they be deployed for the public? Is government just to relief its ministers and
high-ups? Doesn’t the public have any rights? The public on the arrival of the
minister became happy for some time but now the public face the same traffic jam
on daily basis! Perhaps, the commuters wish that either Manzoor Wasan would be
coming to Karachi or three to four wardens would be deployed to keep the flow of
the traffic uninterrupted!
