Arfa Karim Randhawa's Tragic Death
(Hafiz Muhammad Noman, Karachi)
At last Arfa Karim failed to
resist against her ailment and flew away, leaving the whole nation grieved! The
16-year-old Arfa became the world’s youngest Microsoft Certified Professional at
the age of nine amazingly.
The cute child unfortunately perished at the weekend after a heart attack
following an epileptic fit. Before her tragic end, a religious Islamic student
from Saudi Arabia said that she was not affected by any diseases but was put a
whammy upon by someone. He further elaborated and referred various Ahadiths
(Prophet Muhammad’s words) in which He (PBUH) said that “Whammy” could claim
lives.
Many Muslims usually don’t believe in “Whammy”, “Magic” or “Jin” as they think
that these are just superstitions and nothing more. I want to suggest them that
they all should recite the Holy Quran with translation and comprehend what the
Quran teaches. There are various verses in the Holy Quran in which Allah
Almighty has mentioned about “Jin” or “evil of darkness”. There is a complete
Chapter “Jin” about evil of darkness.
Most of the people did not take the statement of the religious student seriously
who termed Arfa’s illness a “Whammy”. Anyways, there is a Saudi cleric Sheikh
Wahid Bali, who has written a book whose Urdu version under the name of
“Talwaar” (Sword) is available in market. He has mentioned and referred various
verses from the Holy Quran and Ahadiths (Apostle’s words) that are very
beneficial for the Muslims to get rid of any “magic” or whammy etc. The cleric
has further mentioned various incidents concerning evil of darkness and various
deseases that a person believes to be illness but is “whammy” or “magic. The
thing in the book that attracted my attention is that Sheikh Wahid Bali has said
he does not deny that a person cannot receive diseases, suggesting that there
should be a special department settled in every hospital where those patients be
cured through the holy verses from the Holy Quran who failed to be cured through
medicines.
As Arfa was a little Microsoft Certified Professional, she might be put a whammy
upon. The aim of this article is to attract heed of those who consider “whammy”
a superstition and spend a lot of money on medical treatment but remain failed
to resist against their diseases. They should at least consul to Quranic verses
and prayers, which have been suggested to recite during sickness, as our various
apostles have been praying to Allah!
