The courtyard in front of National Geographic's DC headquarters looked like Imelda Marcos' closet this week, but it was for a good cause. National Geographic Kids magazine rallied its readers to help it snag the Guinness World Record for most shoes collected for recycling. The magazine needed 15,000 athletic shoes, which will be donated to Nike Reuse-a-Shoe, to sprint into the record books.
