Pakistan has been facing a lot
of social problems for many years which have been destroying our country and our
country’s economy. From these problems Child labor is one of the most common
problem which is present in Asia and in Pakistan. Child labor is a work done by
children which is harmful for them physically or mentally. Children are the
future of every country. So it is the right of every child that they enjoy their
life without any struggle and get education so that they can use their education
in the betterment of their country.
In the least developed countries 30% of children are engaged in child labor. Not
only least or under developed countries but child labor is also become a major
problem through out the global economy especially in the market of developing
countries. According to the Federal bureau of statistics in 2011 3.8 million
children in the age group of 5 to 14 years working out of 40 million children in
total.
There are many reasons for the child labor but the main cause of this problem is
poverty. In fact we can say that poverty is the root of child labor. According
to survey about 30 % population of Pakistan is leading their life below the
poverty line due to which people are deprived of their basic needs like food,
clothes, shelter, education etc. To fulfill their basic needs many people forced
their children to become labor or workers rather to educate them.
Another reason for child labor in Pakistan is that people are not aware about
the importance of education especially in rural areas. They think that work or
labor is more important than education for their children. According to a
another survey it is found that children’s involvement in work in the rural
areas is about 8 times greater than in urban areas. Children should have to
devote more time to their study but due to the child labor children can not
devote their time in the study. Child labor is serious problem which demands a
range of solution and to best way to prevent child labor is to make education
compulsory.
Those people are also responsible for child labor that employs children in their
workshops, hotels or other places. They know that this is out of law or it is
harmful for children but instead of this they employ them.
Since child labor is a reality in our country, if our governments will provide
the basic rights to the every child and will help them in getting education then
its is sure that this problem will ended. It is also duty of all parents that at
least they do not put their economic burden on the weak and delicate shoulders
of their children. Child labor, which is a complex issue, can be resolved if the
government and parents have a strong resolve to do so.
