Traffic problems due to construction of new flyovers at Shahrah-e-Pakistan
(Salman Ali Zar Muhammad, karachi)
Federal B area is a densely
populated residential as well as commercial area of Karachi. The construction of
new flyovers here is a very important development in our area that can relieve
its habitants from heavy traffic jams and provide them with ease to reach their
destination in time. However the construction sites of the new flyovers and its
surrounding roads and pedestrian paths are all flooded with steel rods,
concrete, cements, tool boxes and heavy machineries which are becoming a cause
of accidents especially for people on the bikes and public transports and for
pedestrians also. Walkways for pedestrians have sheds for the construction
workers and pedestrians have no place to walk.
Our traffic system is facing a very hard time. The traffic signals have been
removed and public vehicles coming from all directions simultaneously has
increased the likelihood of accidents happening. Early morning and evenings are
the busiest hours for traffic when people need to hurry to reach their offices,
schools and homes respectively but due to the chaos on the construction sites it
has become almost impossible for the inhabitants to reach the desired
destination on time.
I would therefore request the concerned authorities to look into this matter and
complete the flyovers as soon as possible and kindly work at night shifts. Also
to kindly place the tools required and raw materials at a safer place so public
does not get an encounter with them.
