SPOT FIXING?LATEST EPISODE
(sohail ahmed(university of karachi) , karachi)
Shame shame shame...especially
Sreesanth, famous cricketer from Kerala. In addition, Ajit Chandila and Ankit
Chavan, playing for Rajasthan Royals, were detained early on Thursday morning by
the Delhi police for allegations of spot-fixing.
The Delhi commissioner of police Neeraj Kumar said ?more arrests are likely?. He
did not mention if the arrests would be of players, administrators or bookies.
It is also learnt that a top Australian player in the IPL is also under the
police scanner and could be arrested next.
These players are paid so heavily, still they succumb to bookies wishes to earn
more, throwing their integrity to winds. Sreesanth has always been in news, be
it slap-gate, reality shows on TV, He also wants to be a film actor as per Times
of India report few days back.. I am sure more heads will roll, match fixing/
spot fixing is a curse which erupts every now and then to malign the game, which
is treated like a religion.
Sreesanths parents have conveniently blamed Dhoni/ Harbhajan for this
episode?how naive and silly of them . His brother-in-law, Madhu Balakrishnan, a
leading South Indian playback singer, said that the trap was a plot to "destroy
Sreesanth?s marriage plans. One can only categorize all these counter
accusations as Wishful thinking.
Hope every thing becomes crystal clear in a few days and Sreesanth and
others involved in this shameful act , get marching orders to leave cricket for
good as well as enjoyable stay in Tihar Jail
