Media Outcry
(Zeeshan Shuakat, Karachi)
                Publication of journalists
report by Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC), exposing those who are allegedly paid
by the information ministry; has stirred the media people to protest against the
exposure of so called black sheep's.
Though the list of beneficiaries and the amount given are not significant
compared to the loan defaulters; the resultant outcry of talk shows, like "Bolta
Pakistan" and others does not look rational at this juncture to time. The point
they are raising in defence of those exposed, with the exception of widows
grant; are out of phase and redundant at this juncture of time. All those who
are vocal today in protest were the quite recipient of the perks in the past and
most of them were silent failing to raise allegations, they are advocating
today.
Since the freedom of information media was initiated, it has damage considerably
the political perception of the society by polarizing the masses, based on their
affiliation with the government or the political sides whoever were bribing
them. I have observed many anchorman/women taking soft stand on issues of
principle standing and flip flopping in support of proponents and opponents of
the issue.
It should be mandatory in Pakistan to publish and circulate information
pertaining to Public Account Committees' disbursement for public interest and as
a deterrent against misuses.
