Moral values
(Rana Saeed Ahmad, lahore)
( An extract from book “
Intelligence”
Moral values are principles of right and wrong behavior. Moral values are
directly related to intelligence level. Only higher levels of intelligence can
recognize and understand moral values. Thus, due to low level of intelligence
Animal Intelligence has no concept of moral values. As a result animals have no
idea or understanding of good or bad. Therefore, center of all their activities
is self-interest and benefits. So they are enclosed in shell of own selves.
When Intelligence comes into existence in human beings the concept of moral
values emerges in it. This concept is one of the greatest virtues because it
makes the man to know what is good and bad; right and wrong; fair and unfair,
honest and dishonest, kind and cruel, etc. But it is pertinent to note that in
initial and lower levels of human intelligence --- Initial Level, Selfish and
Nepotistic Levels --- the concept of moral values remains dim, unclear and
confused.
The holders of these levels cannot properly differentiate between right and
wrong, virtue and evil, lawful and unlawful, etc. Hence during their daily life
when they have to select one thing out of personal interests and moral values,
here starts a fight in their mind (intelligence) to take a decision. In this
fight usually per-sonal Interests win and moral values lose. But when
Intelligence reaches at higher levels the concept of moral values becomes
bright, clear and certain. At this stage man may properly differen-tiate between
right and wrong, virtue and evil, lawful and unlaw-ful, etc. And in the fight of
selection of personal interests or moral values, usually moral values win and
personal interests lose.
