UNDERSTAND HUMAN RIGHTS THROUGH DIVINE MESSAGES

(Javed Zaheer, Toronto)

We read hundreds of books, listen to thousands of people and spend millions of dollars on studying, discussing and understanding human rights. Good, very good. Anything positive and constructive is always welcome and should be shared as well so that maximum number ofpeople could benefit.

Nicole Crellin, Youth for Human Rights Toronto Director, presented to me a book “Ways To Happiness” and desired it to be published in Pakistani community’s English Weekly `Pakistan Abroad’, published from Toronto.

As editor, I looked at the book and its contents and said: “Well, whatever the book contains and says about human rights is already mentioned and explained over 1400 years back in the holy Koran. It is in the shape of Divine Messages.”
The Divine Messages in the Koran discuss about human rights, duties and responsibilities. It explains, propagates and defends right and rights and pinpoints and condemnswrong and injustices including cruelty, criminality, inequality, terrorism, exploitation, discrimination, hatred and racism.

I put a condition for using the book in series and that condition was that I will add a prominent message each time I use it that whatever this book says about human rights have already been explained to us in the holy Koran and all the original holy books including Bible, Torah, Scrolls and Scriptures. So the roots, facts and realities must be acknowledged.

Nicole was amazed and delighted to know this and happily agreed to the condition. The purpose of this condition was to let all know the importance of the holy books and the Divine Messages and all those interested in right and human rights could study, understand and know better the human rights in the light of the Divine Messages. Once one is on the right side and path then he or she will start respecting human rights.

The problem faced by most of us is that instead of right we keep following the wrong path but remain in the impression that we are on the right path and talk about human rights. Either we are lost or our intention is bad. Something definitely is wrong somewhere. Study and understanding of the Divine Messages removes all confusion and misunderstandings.

Keeping in view the great importance of right path and human rights, as defined in the Divine Messages, we must join all in support of and celebration of International Human Rights Day and related activities and events. This is a noble cause if powered by good intentions.

At the same time we must remain alert against all those who are using human rights slogan as shield in order to achieve their vested interests. Certainly, they are extremely dangerous people. In the name of right, rights and peace, they mercilessly kill people and cause massive destruction.

We must always remain united, alert and face all such challenges with determination and mutual understanding because it is a never ending story. It happened before, is happening now and will happen in future as well. Like other communities, the Pakistani community is also focusing on human rights and working with all other communities for such common cause, goals and objectives.

The team of Pak Seniors Forum (PSF) including Syed Muhammad Iqbal, President, and Javed Zaheer, Director Information PSF, held meetings and discussions with Nicole Crellin, Youth for Human Rights Toronto Director, for working together to serve the people.

Pak Seniors Forum (PSF) team joined the Human Rights Day celebration organized by the Youth for Human Rights Toronto Chapter at the Ontario Science Centre on December 3, 2013. The theme was `Human Rights On The Move: Dancing For Human Rights’.

The program included lively and entertaining variety of dancing performances, impressive speeches by leading human rights speakers, door prizes and light refreshment. Large number of people of various communities and all ages took part in the celebration.

PAK CONSULATE:PSF team leaders including Syed Muhammad Iqbal,President, Javed Zaheer, Director Information, and Junaid visited the Consulate General of Pakistan in Toronto on December 2, 2013. They met Mohammad Nafees Zakaria, Consul General, and Imran Ali, Counsellor, and discussed various important core issues of the community. Both Mohammad Nafees Zakaria and Imran Ali emphasized on promoting unity in the community and the concept of live and work together.
The PSF leaders assured them that the organization is committed, dedicated and determined to serve and promote the people and become their voice and strength in the real sense. The PSF motto is `Serve Humanity In Realty’ and the concept is to work with like-minded people, groups and communities. The PSF policies are based on a vision and for a cause.

As regards those working against the interests of Pakistan and Pakistanis, the PSF team leaders assured the diplomats of full support in checking their activities and countering them effectively. For this purpose, proper awareness will be created among community members and no stone would be left unturned to protect the community from their bad intentions, actions and harms. The community should remain on guard against such germs and worms of stinking filth.

The PSF team observed the working at the consulate, saw the great rush at the counters and heard some genuine complaints. People coming from various far off places and different cities said they face great hardships and problems in getting their work done, particularly NICOP. The hardships must be understood and removed to avoid complaints.

While thanking Imran Ali and Ashraf, secretary to CG, for their cooperation, the PSF team hoped that the new Consul General, Mohammad Nafees Zakaria, would look into the complaints, listen to the people and help them. People are hopeful that Mohammad Nafees Zakaria would always remain and work closely with the people and act as a role model for the staff and community leaders. Being an experienced and seasoned diplomat, he is capable of this.
