Necessity of libraries in Pakistan

(Muhammad Rohail Hassan, Karachi)

Pakistan has a lot of lack of studies. Young students of Pakistan are left behind wasting their time on internet and playing games. There is no interest in learning studies. As far as concerned the big reason of this non-interest is the dwindling of libraries in Pakistan.

There are not much libraries in Pakistan for the students. Some of the libraries in Pakistan are situated but there fees is not affordable by every common man. The fees is charged a/c to the hours spending in libraries. Only rich students can afford the fees of expensive libraries. if there is interest in some students they are not in condition to pay the charges.

What I want to say is that, if the schools, colleges and universities of Pakistan should provide the proper environment in their libraries (as compared to those expensive ones) then there should be education all around the society. Libraries plays very significant role in the development of any society because it is the base of educating one. People would go for studying rather than then wasting their times.

There are some libraries in private schools which are very well maintained, and students of those schools take full advantage of the books kept in library. But on the other hand we have government schools, in which there is no library and if there, they are in worst condition. If the equal facilities of libraries should be provided to both (government and private) schools, then parents won’t be hesitate in sending their child in government schools. If every school in Pakistan was disseminating standard education, every student should be given equal right and facility, the students of government schools would not be complex from private school student.

We have to prepare our youth for future. If Pakistani youth is not prepared for it’s future then it would become almost unbearable for them to enhance their way of living or to survive in a high society. For this purpose youth should be provided the facility of libraries. Only libraries are not enough, youth need the facility of improved and advanced libraries otherwise the education system of Pakistan would left behind from foreign education system.

For the need of improved libraries the government of Pakistan is paying no attention. They are taking loans and funds for all purposes but the question is “Where the need of libraries gone?” “Can’t they take funds for enhancing libraries to flourish our future?”. Pakistan is among those countries where education does not means too much. The neighbor country of Pakistan, India has all it’s attention towards the future of it’s students. Their government is providing all the facilities to it’s students so that the youth of India can take part in big races of life. But still “Where are we?”. This is the reality that Pakistan can’t flourish if it’s nation is uneducated.

After the need of libraries, then there is youth’s duty that youth should also pay attention towards political and international events. To be aware from international events is very important, “What’s going on and What’s going to be happen?”. Side apart from these education, we also have to improve our interest in technical and scientific education otherwise our youth should left behind in the education of life. They won’t be able to face the world.

There are so many difficulties faced by the students of Pakistan, whether it is concerned to libraries or any other problem, from which I have mentioned above some of them. Now it’s up to our government that it should take few steps to make Pakistan’s future bright. In the end I just want to address the youth of Pakistan that “PLEASE WAKE UP”, elections are on it’s peak if you (youth) wants to prosper your future then give vote to those parties from whom you expect that they should take serious attention to the needs of libraries as well as pay equal attention to the education system of Pakistan. I want to sum up my article by just four words:
