The prestigious UPSC, Union
Public Services Commissions’ exam or civil services exams result 2014 is out and
this time also these results have brought reasons for smile on the face of
people of this state. Yes this year also 10 young boys from our state have made
it to the UPSC. The written examinations were held in Dec-2013 and interview cum
personality test for IAS, IFS, IPS and Central Services group A-B were conducted
from April to June 2014.
This year total 1122 candidates across India passed this dream exam comprising
517 candidates from general category, 326 from OBC, 187 from SC and also 92 from
ST Category.
Total 10 Candidates from Jammu and Kashmir state also brought laurels for the
state. Their success has not only gave the People of state a reason for being
jubilant but also inspired many other aspiring candidates to believe in
themselves and continue their efforts in achieve their goal. Out of 10
candidates, 6 belong to Jammu region of the state and 4 from Valley, Candidates
from Kashmir who have passed the IAS exam are Abid Sadiq Bhat, Bashir Ahmad Bhat,
Raja Yaqoob Bhat and Shakeel Maqbool. It is pertinent to mention here that Abid
Sadiq Bhat have achieved 27th rank at all Indian level , Abid is native of
Hyderpora area of district Srinagar. Names of 6 successful candidates from Jammu
are Abhishek Mahajan, Vikrant Bhushan, Afaq Ahmed Giri, Owais Ahmed Rana, Qamar
Zaman Choudhary and Mehtab Ahmed. 5 Out of 6 successful candidates from Jammu
region belong to far flung districts of Jammu province, like Reasi, Rajouri,
Poonch and Ramban.
These successful candidates have also broke the myth that only those students
who study from Urban Private institutions can only qualify these prestigious
Civil Service Exams, Mehtab Ahmed have studies in Government Higher Secondary
School Mendhar and passed his class 12th exams from there, he is already a KAS
officer presently posted as Tehsildaar Relief at Jammu which clearly proves that
it is only hard work that matters the most. The success of Afaq Giri is also
historic as he is the first IAS officer from district Ramban, his father is a
Imam in a local Masjid, but his simplicity and determination to achieve his
destiny dared everything and he made the people of his district proud.
This years’ result is significant in many ways for the state of J & K 1st
because already 4 KAS officer passed this exams, the students from far flung
districts of the state competed with the students at all India level and proved
their intelligence and skills , 3 candidates belonging to ST category also
raised the heads high of the community members and also showed the other young
community members to believe in self and continue their hard work.
In state of Jammu and Kashmir whenever anyone would talk about civil services
exams, no one can forget to mention the name of Dr. Shah Faesal who is 1st
candidate from the state of Jammu and Kashmir state who topped the 2010 IAS
exams and inspired the youth of state to strive and make hard attempt to compete
in the civil services exams. After Dr. Shah Faesal, in 2012, 11 candidates from
different parts of Jammu and Kashmir state made it to the IAS, then in 2013 also
11 candidates from the state qualified the IAS exams.
Now it is for these young IAS officers who have been qualified to serve their
community and people of the area, the government should also make arrangements
so that these officers are posted in their respective districts and villages so
that they can provide their services to their people because they understand the
issues of their community and area and can be helpful in sorting out the
problems. These selected officers should not forget their native areas and as
and when possible must repay back in shape of guiding the other educated to
choose their career.
Though we all celebrate the success of candidates from Jammu and Kashmir state
to the IAS and KAS but we must understand the fact that it is not so easy for
the people from remote areas to prepare for their studies, there are hardly any
coaching institutions and Library facilities available in these areas, even in
Jammu and Srinagar, the capital cities of the state, we can hardly find any
state of the art institution where the talented but students e from
underprivileged class of the society be given free coaching and books so that
they can also compete with students from other major cities like, Delhi, Mumbai,
Bangalora, Chandigarh, Noida, Kolkatta and Hyderbad. One thing these 10
successful candidates from jammu have proved is that the youth of Jammu and
Kashmir is none to them and if they are given the proper infrastructure and
support they can prove their skills at any competition.
Once again We congratulate these successful candidates, their teacher, parents,
friends, neighbours and also to people of the entire state for this grand
success, though 10 out of 1122 candidate is not very towering but this is clear
indication that in the coming years the number would be increasing.
