Terror attacks endorses home schooling

Schooling is a formal instruction under the direction of specially trained teachers. Educational problems are the social problems which lead to the decline of society if they are not properly handled. For much of the 20th century, there were just two models for education in Pakistan. Public schools run by government and private schools operated by non-governmental organizations. Private schools are to gain profit but they are providing quality education and security too. Due to the recent terror attack on Army Public School Peshawar, there was an alarming situation in the whole country. Most of the students of APS were killed by terrorists. This proves that even the army schools are not safe.

Where we are lacking? However, government has taken some constructive steps to resolve this issue. Like security enhancements in schools, trained staff, training of students through workshops, seminars and lectures on how to tackle such problems. But the statistics says that more than half of the population goes to public schools due to high rates of private schooling. Eventually, government has issued notice to all educational institutes to take security measurements but the point of distress is that our public schools, which are run by government and where the most of population goes, have yet not prepared for any adverse situation.

Is terrorism leading us towards home schooling? Home schooling is to teach children at home, through online education or some other way. Home schoolers are mothers and fathers who simply do not believe that public schools are not doing a good job and think they can do better but they don’t. Home schooling let them be sure that their children are at least safe at home and they are getting their education properly done. Advocates of home schooling point out that given the poor performance of many public schools, no one should be surprised that a growing number of parents are stepping up to teach their own children.

Critics argue that home schooling reduces the amount of funding going to local public schools. If home schooling became common it can be ruthless for economy of our country. If the war against terrorism is fought properly then we would have a better education system that will produce qualified people to contribute in country’s economy to lead it towards progress.
