Balochi Culture

"Balouch" a nation, which
comprising of numerous tribes, their tradition and values are comparable, but
spoken language Balouchi is tiny bit diverse of all tribes. Balouchi peoples
have a united civilized society And they speak a common language "balouchi".
Balouchi language also known as an ancient spoken language.
Balouchi peoples are also very much prominent about their braveness, the Heroic
braveness of Balouch is appreciated by many numerous historians and poets. Many
well known person said about Balouch that "when they fight never give up". Col
William Carpenter Lambert was an American fighter pilot he says In his diary
that "Never seen anyone like ballots. In wars they never return home without
victory"
Clothing of balouchi peoples are like all the other provinces of Pakistan the
national dress Shalwar Kameez with distinct additions and modifications
are worn in Balouch culture. The people dress up very pleasingly and in the same
way in all the tribes. Turban s the common headwear of balouch men along
with wide loose shalwar along with knee-long shirts. Females dress Consists of a
shirt having a big pocket and embroidery and embedded round mirror work in
front. A big Dupatta/ Chaddar is taken to cover the head and shoulders.
Balouch culture is very rich in music dances and songs. Famous wedding songs of
Balouch culture are "NAZENK", "SALONK" and "LEWA" and instruments used are
mainly a flute, locally called "NAL", "TAMBOORA" and 'SOROZ".
Marriage ceremonies in Balouch culture is very much different and also unique
from others. The marriages are According to Islamic principles in presence of a
Mullana along with the presence of witnesses. Groom is called "SALONK" and Bride
is called "BANOOR" in balouchi. Balochi marriage starts with the Afternoon event
of "JOL BANDI" which help is bride's house. The Word "JOL" means 'BASHANA" in
english means curtain, "JOL BANDI" is tying of curtain at bride's home and men
don't participate in jol bandi. A day after jol bandi the day was called "DUZKI
ENNI", duzki enni is a day which is also called mehdi day of groom OR pre
mehendi. A day after pre mehendi peoples celebrate "ENNI SHAP" also night of
hinnd OR mehendi, this night ceremony was the final celebration before nikkah,
In enni shap groom’s sisters and cousins put simple designs of mehendi on
bride’s hands, many musical shows and dance also held in enni shap, balochi
simger perfoms on this night. Nikkah which is also called marriage contract, For
nikkah men gathered at the mosque for the nikkah processions, most probably
nikkah held in area at where the family of bride's lived. Nikkah performed
according to the Islamic laws and principles. Nikkah was almost the ending
ceremony of balochi marriages, but during the nikkah "PAG BANDI" of groom, "BANOOR
E SAMBHAINAG" is for bride and "Nadinag" which held after the nikkah when bride
meet groom at her house. In addition after the nikkah ceremony "MOBAKAI", which
is called banquet, it held after the day nikkah by the parent's of bride at
their house, in this event all family member's of groom have been invited and
the friends relatives of bride are also the part of this gathering at bride
parent's house.
