Since independence in 1947, floods in the Indus River Basin in Pakistan have claimed more than 7,000 lives and caused massive infrastructure and crop losses. The 2010 Pakistan floods began in July 2010 after heavy monsoon rains affected the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, lower Punjab as well as parts of Balochistan It was a great catastrophe came in Pakistan and brought many horizon of disasters.. It has destroyed families Pakistan, their possessions, and some have even lost their very dear ones. Relief workers in Pakistan are struggling to reach hundreds of thousands of people who have been cut off by rising flood waters. According to a random estimate, flood affected one third population of Pakistan. The area affected is 132000 sq km. House hold damage has been risen up to 722508. Health officials fear a second wave of fatalities from waterborne diseases, including cholera, which is endemic in Pakistan and now threatening to become a major outbreak. Up to 3.5 million children are at high risk of cholera and other deadly diseases such as typhoid and dysentery, Water is the villain here but can also be a savior: The only recourses from waterborne illnesses are clean water and medical care, but both are in short supply. There have been 36,000 suspected cases of potentially fatal acute watery diarrhea reported so far. This catastrophe is much more than previously occurred in Pakistan like 2005 earthquake. Roughly three million people have received tents and tarps, but an estimated eleven million people still need emergency shelter.

For saving the lives of flood affectees and their rehabilitation to streamline their daily life according to previous level, the whole world has joined hands to donate for. Approximately sixty four agencies/countries have committed to donation and twelve out of these agencies/countries have given first payment. The total committed donation is $.888.23 million out of which $562.98 have been received. The nation is in a state of reluctant to cope with the huge challenges not only for flood damages but also for corruption caused by flood. Many a looters is ransacking cattle money and jewelry of the flood affectee. Despite the suffering of people and providing a huge donation, many flood victims are reluctant to leave the ruins of their homes because they fear having their land stolen. Some notorious gang are enjoying flood in the form of looting and dacoittee. Flood corruption has been extended to its peak. The plight of the flood victims in Pakistan has aggravated further with rampant looters grabbing at anything that they can get access to in Southern Punjab. According to a news paper, the looters have raided houses on boats and managed to sneak away. The survivors are seized with fear and shock not knowing if they will find their house or not. Most of the cases have gone unreported.

Some statement recorded by flood victims are “I have to be vigilant even for my buffaloes, sheep and other live stocks as many of animal theft incidents have occurred in my village”. “Living in the house of sorrow such incidents are further aggravating our woes and worries,” said another victim from Chowk Quereshi (Muzaffargarh).

The Pakistan Hindu Council has demanded the deployment of army personnel in some of the flood affected districts of interior Sindh where there is a large population of Hindus to check incidents of looting.

Dr Ramesh Kumar, the chief patron of the council told that they had made the demand because of unchecked looting incidents against the Hindu population in the flood affected districts of Jacobabad, Kashmore and Karampur in Sindh.

Thousands of Hindus who were asked to evacuate their homes by the authorities in these districts due to the floods were looted by gangs of armed men who also looted their homes of all valuables and belongings," Kumar said.

The whole world has donated to give shelter to the affected people but looter are ransacking and grabbing the pet animals, jewelry and other assets. This situation requires to be noticed by high ups as well as the nation. There is no need to glorify any State Pillar. The need of the hour is to assist the flood victims as much as possible by providing every kind of auxiliary equipment for flood. NGOs should be offered to help the victims in this needy hour to cope with the situation especially after checking the performance. There should be no distinction for getting help from western or eastern countries. In the same way distribution of donation to flood victims must be streamline, if we want peace and to face rampant challenges to the stability of Pakistan. Otherwise in this difficult condition, non state actors, in any shape, may strengthen the activities to destabilize the Pakistan.

Government should take massive measure to control the situation. Otherwise it would loose confidence in the eyes of donor and then foreign donors would be eager to make the platform in Pakistan for their internal purposes in the form of demanding the permission to distribute donation to flood victims

This worse situation can be handled with taking some advancement on the road to management for distributing donations to the real deservers. It is the duty of all Pakistanis to come forward with what ever help one can give. And please don’t ask only Muslims of this country for any help, there is others also who are called Minorities.
