MARRIAGES UNDER 18

(Farah Zaheer, Karachi)

In Pakistan, illiteracy rate is above 60% and due to this illiteracy and lack of education in any field either it is professional or about the health of people we are "ZERO" in mostly every field. Now a day, we have facing so many problems like load shedding, petrol prices or shortage of food items but with these problems we are facing another serious problem and that is immature marriages.

Specially in rural areas, Parents suppose that there daughters are biggest problems of their lives and that's why they wish to marry their daughter in the age of 12 to 18. This create so many problems for that girls who is going to marry a man of age 30. This is also called "immature marriages". This is mostly done in northern areas or in interior sindh. In these areas people think that if a girl has grown older her thoughts must be rigid, she knows how to defend herself or how to protect herself. She also knows about her rights that's why they supposed a girl must married in the age of 12 to 18.

Now lets talk about her health issues. Girls are health conscious in this age so they don't take proper diet, they also have so many burden related to their families. They are not mentally and physically prepare for conceiving a baby, blood deficiency is also there in most of the girls so in this case most of the girls are not able of conceiving a baby. If they conceive a baby then after a birth of a baby.... a child leaves deficiency in mother, she is going to be weak day by day and for planning a next baby she must be very careful.

This immature marriages must be control by health departments. This can also help us in decreasing population rate.
