Ibn Abbas narrated: The Prophet returned his daughter Zainab to Abul-As bin Ar-Rabi after six years in the first marriage without renewing the marriage.

حَدَّثَنَا هَنَّادٌ، حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاق، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنِي دَاوُدُ بْنُ الْحُصَيْنِ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ رَدَّ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ابْنَتَهُ زَيْنَبَ عَلَى أَبِي الْعَاصِي بْنِ الرَّبِيعِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏بَعْدَ سِتِّ سِنِينَ بِالنِّكَاحِ الْأَوَّلِ وَلَمْ يُحْدِثْ نِكَاحًا . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ لَيْسَ بِإِسْنَادِهِ بَأْسٌ وَلَكِنْ لَا نَعْرِفُ وَجْهَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَلَعَلَّهُ قَدْ جَاءَ هَذَا مِنْ قِبَلِ دَاوُدَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏مِنْ قِبَلِ حِفْظِهِ.

عبداللہ بن عباس رضی الله عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ   نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اپنی بیٹی زینب کو ابوالعاص بن ربیع رضی الله عنہ کے پاس چھ سال بعد ۱؎ پہلے نکاح ہی پر واپس بھیج دیا اور پھر سے نکاح نہیں کیا۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: اس حدیث کی سند میں کوئی اشکال نہیں ہے، لیکن ہم اس حدیث میں نقد کی وجہ نہیں جانتے ہیں۔ شاید یہ چیز داود بن حصین کی جانب سے ان کے حفظ کی طرف سے آئی ہے۔
