Ibn Shihab narrated that : Abu Hurairah said: None should call (for the prayer except for one with Wudu.

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ مُوسَى ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ ، عَنْ يُونُسَ ، عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ : لَا يُنَادِي بِالصَّلَاةِ إِلَّا مُتَوَضِّئٌ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ وَهَذَا أَصَحُّ مِنَ الْحَدِيثِ الْأَوَّلِ. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ وَحَدِيثُ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ لَمْ يَرْفَعْهُ ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَهُوَ أَصَحُّ مِنْ حَدِيثِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالزُّهْرِيُّ لَمْ يَسْمَعْ مِنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَاخْتَلَفَ أَهْلُ الْعِلْمِ فِي الْأَذَانِ عَلَى غَيْرِ وُضُوءٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَكَرِهَهُ بَعْضُ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَبِهِ يَقُولُ الشَّافِعِيُّ،‏‏‏‏ وَإِسْحَاق، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَرَخَّصَ فِي ذَلِكَ بَعْضُ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَبِهِ يَقُولُ سُفْيَانُ الثَّوْرِيُّ،‏‏‏‏ وَابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ،‏‏‏‏ وَأَحْمَدُ.

ابن شہاب زہری کہتے ہیں کہ   ابوہریرہ رضی الله عنہ نے کہا: نماز کے لیے وہی اذان دے جو باوضو ہو۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- یہ پہلی حدیث سے زیادہ صحیح ہے، ۲- ابوہریرہ رضی الله عنہ کی حدیث کو ابن وہب نے مرفوع روایت نہیں کیا، یہ ۱؎ ولید بن مسلم کی حدیث سے زیادہ صحیح ہے، ۳- زہری نے ابوہریرہ رضی الله عنہ سے نہیں سنا ہے، ۴- بغیر وضو کے اذان دینے میں اہل علم کا اختلاف ہے، بعض نے اسے مکروہ کہا ہے اور یہی شافعی اور اسحاق بن راہویہ کا قول ہے، اور بعض اہل علم نے اس سلسلہ میں رخصت دی ہے، اور اسی کے قائل سفیان ثوری، ابن مبارک اور احمد ہیں۔
