Anas bin Malik narrated: Allah's Messenger used to mingle with us such that he said to my younger brother: 'O Abu Umair! What did the Nughair do?' He (Anas) said: A Bisat of ours would be sprinkled (with water) to perform Salat on.

حَدَّثَنَا هَنَّادٌ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي التَّيَّاحِ الضُّبَعِيِّ، قَال:‏‏‏‏ سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ، يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُخَالِطُنَا حَتَّى إِنْ كَانَ يَقُولُ لِأَخٍ لِي صَغِيرٍ:‏‏‏‏ يَا أَبَا عُمَيْرٍ مَا فَعَلَ النُّغَيْرُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَنُضِحَ بِسَاطٌ لَنَا فَصَلَّى عَلَيْهِ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَفِي الْبَاب عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ حَدِيثُ أَنَسٍ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالْعَمَلُ عَلَى هَذَا عِنْدَ أَكْثَرِ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَمَنْ بَعْدَهُمْ لَمْ يَرَوْا بِالصَّلَاةِ عَلَى الْبِسَاطِ وَالطُّنْفُسَةِ بَأْسًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَبِهِ يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ أَحْمَدُ،‏‏‏‏ وَإِسْحَاق، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَاسْمُ أَبِي التَّيَّاحِ:‏‏‏‏ يَزِيدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ.

انس بن مالک رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ہم سے گھل مل جایا کرتے تھے۔ یہاں تک کہ آپ میرے چھوٹے بھائی سے کہتے: ابوعمیر! «ما فعل النغير» ”بلبل کا کیا ہوا؟“ ہماری چٹائی ۱؎ پر چھڑکاؤ کیا گیا پھر آپ نے اس پر نماز پڑھی۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- انس کی حدیث حسن صحیح ہے، ۲- اس باب میں ابن عباس رضی الله عنہما سے بھی روایت ہے، ۳- صحابہ کرام اور ان کے بعد کے لوگوں میں سے اکثر اہل علم کا عمل اسی پر ہے۔ وہ چادر اور قالین پر نماز پڑھنے میں کوئی قباحت نہیں سمجھتے یہی احمد اور اسحاق بن راہویہ بھی کہتے ہیں۔
