حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ النُّفَيْلِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ وَاقِدٍ، عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ حَلْبَسٍ، عَنْ أَبِي إِدْرِيسَ الْخَوْلَانِيِّ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ لَمَّا عَزَلَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ عُمَيْرَ بْنَ سَعْدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ حِمْصَ وَلَّى مُعَاوِيَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ النَّاسُ:‏‏‏‏ عَزَلَ عُمَيْرًا وَوَلَّى مُعَاوِيَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ عُمَيْرٌ:‏‏‏‏ لَا تَذْكُرُوا مُعَاوِيَةَ إِلَّا بِخَيْرٍ،‏‏‏‏ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ اللَّهُمَّ اهْدِ بِهِ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ غَرِيبٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَعَمْرُو بْنُ وَاقِدٍ يُضَعَّفُ.

Urdu Translation

ابوادریس خولانی کہتے ہیں کہ   جب عمر بن خطاب رضی الله عنہ نے عمیر بن سعد کو حمص سے معزول کیا اور ان کی جگہ معاویہ رضی الله عنہ کو والی بنایا تو لوگوں نے کہا: انہوں نے عمیر کو معزول کر دیا اور معاویہ کو والی بنایا، تو عمیر نے کہا: تم لوگ معاویہ رضی الله عنہ کا ذکر بھلے طریقہ سے کرو کیونکہ میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو فرماتے ہوئے سنا ہے: «اللهم اهد به» ”اے اللہ! ان کے ذریعہ ہدایت دے“۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- یہ حدیث غریب ہے، ۲- عمرو بن واقد حدیث میں ضعیف ہیں۔

English Translation

Narrated Abu Idris Al-Khawlani: When 'Umar bin Al-Khattab removed 'Umair bin Sa'd as governor of Hims, he appointed Mu'awiyah. The people said: 'He has removed 'Umair and appointed Mu'awiyah.' So 'Umair said: 'Do not mentioned Mu'awiyah except with good, for indeed, I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) saying: O Allah guide (others) by him.
