حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ نَزَلْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَنْزِلًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَجَعَلَ النَّاسُ يَمُرُّونَ،‏‏‏‏ فَيَقُولُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ مَنْ هَذَا يَا أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ؟ ،‏‏‏‏ فَأَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ فُلَانٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَيَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ نِعْمَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ هَذَا ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَيَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ مَنْ هَذَا ؟ ،‏‏‏‏ فَأَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ فُلَانٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَيَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ بِئْسَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ هَذَا ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَتَّى مَرَّ خَالِدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ،‏‏‏‏ فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ مَنْ هَذَا ؟ ،‏‏‏‏ فَقُلْتُ:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا خَالِدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ نِعْمَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ خَالِدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ سَيْفٌ مِنْ سُيُوفِ اللَّهِ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَلَا نَعْرِفُ لِزَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ سَمَاعًا مِنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَهُوَ عِنْدِي حَدِيثٌ مُرْسَلٌ. قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقِ.

Urdu Translation

ابوہریرہ رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   ہم نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے ساتھ ایک منزل پر پڑاؤ کیا، جب لوگ آپ کے سامنے سے گزرتے تو آپ پوچھتے: ”ابوہریرہ! یہ کون ہے؟“ میں کہتا: فلاں ہے، تو آپ فرماتے: ”کیا ہی اچھا بندہ ہے یہ اللہ کا“، پھر آپ فرماتے: ”یہ کون ہے؟“ تو میں کہتا: فلاں ہے تو آپ فرماتے: ”کیا ہی برا بندہ ہے یہ اللہ کا ۱؎“، یہاں تک کہ خالد بن ولید گزرے تو آپ نے فرمایا: ”یہ کون ہے؟“ میں نے عرض کیا: یہ خالد بن ولید ہیں، آپ نے فرمایا: ”کیا ہی اچھے بندے ہیں اللہ کے خالد بن ولید، وہ اللہ کی تلواروں میں سے ایک تلوار ہیں“ ۲؎۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- یہ حدیث غریب ہے، اور ہم نہیں جانتے کہ زید بن اسلم کا سماع ابوہریرہ رضی الله عنہ سے ہے کہ نہیں اور یہ میرے نزدیک مرسل روایت ہے، ۲- اس باب میں ابوبکر صدیق رضی الله عنہ سے بھی روایت ہے۔

English Translation

Narrated Abu Hurairah: We camped with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) at a place, and the people began passing by. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) would say: 'Who is this, O Abu Hurairah?' So I would say: 'So-and-so.' So he would say: 'What an excellent slave of Allah this is.' And he would say: 'Who is this?' So I would say: 'So-and-so.' So he would say: 'What a bad slave of Allah this is.' Until Khalid bin Al-Walid passed, so he said: 'Who is this?' So I said: 'This is Khalid bin Al-Walid.' He said: 'What an excellent slave of Allah is Khalid bin Al-Walid, a sword from among the swords of Allah.'
