حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَرْزُوقٍ الْبَصْرِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ ثُمَامَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ كَانَ قَيْسُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ مِنَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمَنْزِلَةِ صَاحِبِ الشُّرَطِ مِنَ الْأَمِيرِ . قَالَ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ:‏‏‏‏ يَعْنِي مِمَّا يَلِي مِنْ أُمُورِهِ. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏لَا نَعْرِفُهُ إِلَّا مِنْ حَدِيثِ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ.

Urdu Translation

انس رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   قیس بن سعد رضی الله عنہ نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے لیے ایسے ہی تھے جیسے امیر ( کی حفاظت ) کے لیے پولیس والا ہوتا ہے۔ راوی حدیث ( محمد بن عبداللہ ) انصاری کہتے ہیں: یعنی وہ ( آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی حفاظت کے لیے ) آپ کے بہت سے امور انجام دیا کرتے تھے۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: یہ حدیث حسن غریب ہے، ہم اسے صرف انصاری کی روایت سے جانتے ہیں۔

English Translation

Narrated Anas: Qais bin Sa'd used to be, to the Prophet (ﷺ), in the position of the head of police for a ruler. (One of the narrators) Al-Ansari said: That is: Due to his affairs that he takes charge of.
