Narrated Abu Jamra: I heard Ibn `Abbas (giving a verdict) when he was asked about the Mut'a with the women, and he permitted it (Nikah-al-Mut'a). On that a freed slave of his said to him, That is only when it is very badly needed and women are scarce. On that, Ibn `Abbas said, Yes.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا غُنْدَرٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ أَبِي جَمْرَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ سُئِلَ عَنْ مُتْعَةِ النِّسَاءِ ، فَرَخَّصَ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ مَوْلًى لَهُ : إِنَّمَا ذَلِكَ فِي الْحَالِ الشَّدِيدِ ، وَفِي النِّسَاءِ قِلَّةٌ أَوْ نَحْوَهُ ، فَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ : نَعَمْ .

ہم سے محمد بن بشار نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے غندر محمد بن جعفر نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے شعبہ بن حجاج نے بیان کیا، ان سے ابوجمرہ نے بیان کیا، کہا میں نے ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے سنا،   ان سے عورتوں کے ساتھ نکاح متعہ کرنے کے متعلق سوال کیا گیا تھا تو انہوں نے اس کی اجازت دی، پھر ان کے ایک غلام نے ان سے پوچھا کہ اس کی اجازت سخت مجبوری یا عورتوں کی کمی یا اسی جیسی صورتوں میں ہو گی؟ تو ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما نے کہا کہ ہاں۔ ( نوٹ: یہ حرمت سے قبل کی بات ہے بعد میں ہر حالت میں ہر شخص کے لیے متعہ حرام قرار دیا گیا جو قیامت تک کے لیے ہے ) ۔
