حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، أَخْبَرَنَا هِشَامٌ ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : لَمَّا حُضِرَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ وَفِي الْبَيْتِ رِجَالٌ فِيهِمْ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ ، قَالَ : هَلُمَّ أَكْتُبْ لَكُمْ كِتَابًا لَنْ تَضِلُّوا بَعْدَهُ ، قَالَ عُمَرُ : إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ غَلَبَهُ الْوَجَعُ وَعِنْدَكُمُ الْقُرْآنُ ، فَحَسْبُنَا كِتَابُ اللَّهِ وَاخْتَلَفَ أَهْلُ الْبَيْتِ وَاخْتَصَمُوا ، فَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ يَقُولُ : قَرِّبُوا يَكْتُبْ لَكُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كِتَابًا لَنْ تَضِلُّوا بَعْدَهُ ، وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ يَقُولُ : مَا قَالَ عُمَرُ ، فَلَمَّا أَكْثَرُوا اللَّغَطَ وَالِاخْتِلَافَ عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : قُومُوا عَنِّي ، قَالَ عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ : فَكَانَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ ، يَقُولُ : إِنَّ الرَّزِيَّةَ كُلَّ الرَّزِيَّةِ مَا حَالَ بَيْنَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَبَيْنَ أَنْ يَكْتُبَ لَهُمْ ذَلِكَ الْكِتَابَ مِنَ اخْتِلَافِهِمْ وَلَغَطِهِمْ .

Urdu Translation

ہم سے ابراہیم بن موسیٰ نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم کو ہشام نے خبر دی، انہیں معمر نے، انہیں زہری نے، انہیں عبیداللہ بن عبداللہ نے اور ان سے ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما نے بیان کیا کہ   جب نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی وفات کا وقت قریب آیا تو گھر میں بہت سے صحابہ موجود تھے، جن میں عمر بن خطاب رضی اللہ عنہ بھی تھے اس وقت آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ آؤ میں تمہارے لیے ایک ایسا مکتوب لکھ دوں کہ اس کے بعد تم کبھی گمراہ نہ ہو۔ عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا کہ اس وقت آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ آؤ میں تمہارے لیے ایک ایسا مکتوب لکھ دوں کہ اس کے بعد تم کبھی گمراہ نہ ہو۔ عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم تکلیف میں مبتلا ہیں، تمہارے پاس اللہ کی کتاب ہے اور یہی ہمارے لیے کافی ہے۔ گھر کے لوگوں میں بھی اختلاف ہو گیا اور آپس میں بحث کرنے لگے۔ ان میں سے بعض نے کہا کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے قریب ( لکھنے کا سامان ) کر دو۔ وہ تمہارے لیے ایسی چیز لکھ دیں گے کہ اس کے بعد تم گمراہ نہیں ہو گے اور بعض نے وہی بات کہی جو عمر رضی اللہ عنہ کہہ چکے تھے۔ جب نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس لوگ اختلاف و بحث زیادہ کرنے لگے تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ میرے پاس سے ہٹ جاؤ۔ عبیداللہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے بیان کیا کہ ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما کہا کرتے تھے کہ سب سے بھاری مصیبت تو وہ تھے جو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم اور اس نوشت لکھوانے کے درمیان حائل ہوئے، یعنی جھگڑا اور شور۔

English Translation

Narrated Ibn `Abbas: When the time of the death of the Prophet approached while there were some men in the house, and among them was `Umar bin Al-Khatttab, the Prophet said, Come near let me write for you a writing after which you will never go astray. `Umar said, The Prophet is seriously ill, and you have the Qur'an, so Allah's Book is sufficient for us. The people in the house differed and disputed. Some of them said, Come near so that Allah's Apostle may write for you a writing after which you will not go astray, while some of them said what `Umar said. When they made much noise and differed greatly before the Prophet, he said to them, Go away and leave me. Ibn `Abbas used to say, It was a great disaster that their difference and noise prevented Allah's Apostle from writing that writing for them.
