Baab Ghulami Se Azadi Ka Bayan

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ الْقَاسِمِ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ الْقَاسِمَ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، أَنَّهَا أَرَادَتْ أَنْ تَشْتَرِيَ بَرِيرَةَ لِلْعِتْقِ، فَاشْتَرَطُوا وَلَاءَهَا، فَذَكَرَتْ ذَلِكَ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ: «اشْتَرِيهَا وَأَعْتِقِيهَا، فَإِنَّ الْوَلَاءَ لِمَنْ أَعْتَقَ» وَأُهْدِيَ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَحْمٌ، فَقَالُوا لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: هَذَا تُصُدِّقَ بِهِ عَلَى بَرِيرَةَ، فَقَالَ: «هُوَ لَهَا صَدَقَةٌ، وَهُوَ لَنَا هَدِيَّةٌ» وَخُيِّرَتْ - فَقَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ: - وَكَانَ زَوْجُهَا حُرًّا، قَالَ شُعْبَةُ: ثُمَّ سَأَلْتُهُ، عَنْ زَوْجِهَا، فَقَالَ: لَا أَدْرِي،

Urdu Translation

  ہمیں محمد بن جعفر نے حدیث بیان کی ، کہا : ہمیں شعبہ نے حدیث بیان کی ، انہوں نے کہا : میں نے عبدالرحمٰن بن قاسم سے سنا ، انہوں نے کہا : میں نے قاسم سے سنا ، وہ حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے حدیث بیان کر رہے تھے کہ انہوں نے بریرہ رضی اللہ عنہا کو آزاد کرنے کے لیے خریدنا چاہا تو ان لوگوں ( مالکوں ) نے اس کی ولاء کی شرط لگا دی ۔ عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا نے اس بات کا تذکرہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے کیا ، تو آپ نے فرمایا : " اسے خریدو اور آزاد کر دو کیونکہ ولاء اسی کے لیے ہے جس نے آزاد کیا ۔ " رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے لیے ( بریرہ رضی اللہ عنہا کی طرف سے ) گوشت کا ہدیہ بھیجا گیا تو انہوں ( گھر والوں ) نے نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے عرض کی : یہ بریرہ پر صدقہ کیا گیا ہے ، آپ نے فرمایا : " وہ اس کے لیے صدقہ ہے اور ہمارے لیے ہدیہ ہے ۔ " اور اسے اختیار دیا گیا ۔ عبدالرحمٰن نے کہا : اس کا شوہر آزاد تھا ۔ شعبہ نے کہا : میں نے پھر سے اس کے شوہر کے بارے میں ان سے پوچھا تو انہوں نے کہا : میں نہیں جانتا ( وہ آزاد تھا یا غلام ۔ شک کے بغیر ، یقین کے ساتھ کی گئی روایت یہی ہے کہ وہ غلام تھا

English Translation

A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) reported: She wanted to buy Barira with a view to emancipating her. They (the sellers) laid down the condition that the right of inheritance would vest (with them). She (Hadrat 'A'isha) made a mention of that to Allah's Messenger ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ), whereupon he said: Buy her and emancipate her for the right of inheritance vests with one who emancipates. Allah's Messenger ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) was given meat as gift. They (his Companions) said to Allah's Apostle ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ): This was given as charity to Barira, whereupon he said: That is charity for her but gift for us. And she was given option (to retain her matrimonial alliance or to break it). Abd al-Rahman said: Her husband was a free man. Shu'ba said: I then asked him (one of the narrators) about Barira's husband (whether he had been a free mart or a slave), whereupon he said: I do not know.
