Umar b. al-Khattib reported Allah's Messenger ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) as saying: Allah, the Great and Majestic, forbids you to swear by your fathers. Umar said: By Allah. I have never sworn (by my father) since I heard Allah's Messenger ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) forbidding it mentioning them on my behalf nor on behalf of someone else.

وحَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الطَّاهِرِ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ سَرْحٍ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، عَنْ يُونُسَ، ح وحَدَّثَنِي حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ، يَقُولُ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «إِنَّ اللهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يَنْهَاكُمْ أَنْ تَحْلِفُوا بِآبَائِكُمْ»، قَالَ عُمَرُ: «فَوَاللهِ مَا حَلَفْتُ بِهَا مُنْذُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنْهَا ذَاكِرًا، وَلَا آثِرًا

  یونس نے ابن شہاب سے ، انہوں نے سالم بن عبداللہ سے اور انہوں نے اپنے والد سے روایت کی ، انہوں نے کہا : میں نے حضرت عمر بن خطاب رضی اللہ عنہ سے سنا ، وہ کہہ رہے تھے : رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا : "" بلاشبہ اللہ تعالیٰ تمہیں اپنے آباء و اجداد کی قسم کھانے سے منع کرتا ہے ۔ "" حضرت عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا : اللہ کی قسم! جب سے میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے سنا کہ آپ نے اس سے منع فرمایا ہے ، میں نے نہ ( اپنی طرف سے ) نہ ( کسی کی ) پیروی کرتے ہوئے کبھی ان ( آباء و اجداد کی ) قسم کھائی ۔ ( آباء و اجداد کی قسم کے الفاظ ہی زبان سے ادا نہیں کیے
