The same hadith has been narrated from A'mash on the authority of the same chain of transmitters with the exception of these words: You would be no more among men (on the Day of Resurrection) but like a white hair on (the body of) a black ox, or like a black hair on (the body of) a white ox, and he made no mention of: a strip on the foreleg of an ass.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ح، وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، كِلَاهُمَا عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ غَيْرَ أَنَّهُمَا قَالَا: مَا أَنْتُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ فِي النَّاسِ إِلَّا كَالشَّعْرَةِ الْبَيْضَاءِ فِي الثَّوْرِ الْأَسْوَدِ أَوْ كَالشَّعْرَةِ السَّوْدَاءِ فِي الثَّوْرِ الْأَبْيَضِ وَلَمْ يَذْكُرَا أَوِ الرَّقْمَةِ فِي ذِرَاعِ الْحِمَارِ

  ( جریر کے بجائے ) اعمش کے دو شاگردوں وکیع اور ابو معاویہ نےاسی سند کے ساتھ روایت کی ، لیکن دونوں کے الفاظ ہیں : ’’اس دن لوگوں میں تم ( اسےسے زیادہ ) نہیں ہو گے مگر ( ایسے ) جس طرح ایک سفید بال جو سیاہ بیل پر ہوتا ہے یا سیاہ بال جو سفید بیل پر ہوتا ہے ۔ ‘ ‘ ان دونوں نے گدھے کے اگلے پاؤں کے نشان کا تذکرہ نہیں کیا ۔
