و حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ وَهُوَ عُثْمَانُ وَإِسْحَقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْحَنْظَلِيُّ كِلَاهُمَا عَنْ جَرِيرٍ وَاللَّفْظُ لِإِسْحَقَ أَخْبَرَنَا جَرِيرٌ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ التَّيْمِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ قَالَ كُنَّا مَعَ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ فَرْقَدٍ فَجَاءَنَا كِتَابُ عُمَرَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَا يَلْبَسُ الْحَرِيرَ إِلَّا مَنْ لَيْسَ لَهُ مِنْهُ شَيْءٌ فِي الْآخِرَةِ إِلَّا هَكَذَا وَقَالَ أَبُو عُثْمَانَ بِإِصْبَعَيْهِ اللَّتَيْنِ تَلِيَانِ الْإِبْهَامَ فَرُئِيتُهُمَا أَزْرَارَ الطَّيَالِسَةِ حِينَ رَأَيْتُ الطَّيَالِسَةَ

Urdu Translation

  جریر نے سلیمان تیمی سے ، انھوں نے ابو عثمان سے روایت کی ، کہا : ہم عتبہ بن فرقد رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کے ساتھ تو ہمارے پاس حضرت عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کامکتوب آیا کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا : " ریشم ( کالباس ) اس کے سوا کوئی شخص نہیں پہنتا جس کا آخرت میں اس میں سے کوئی حصہ نہ ہو ، سوائے اتنے ( ریشم ) کے ( اتنی مقدار جائز ہے ) " ابوعثمان نے انگوٹھے کے ساتھ کی اپنی دو انگلیوں سے اشارہ کیا ۔ مجھے اس طرح معلوم ہوا کہ جیسے وہ طیلسان ( نشانات والی عبا ) کے بٹنوں والی جگہ ( کے برابر ) ہو ، یہاں تک کہ میں نے ( اصل ) طیلسان دیکھے ، ( وہ اتنی مقدار ہی تھی ۔ )

English Translation

Abu 'Uthman reported: While we were with 'Utba b. Farqad there came a letter of 'Umar (containing the instructions) that Allah's Messenger ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) had said: None should wear silk (with the exception of so much) but he will have nothing of it in the Hereafter. Abu 'Uthman said: To the extent of two fingers which are close to the thumb, and I was shown the (silk) borders of the Tayalisa mantle (which were about two fingers in breadth and I saw them.
