Usama b. Zaid reported that Allah's Messenger ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) had said: Plague is the sign of a calamity with which Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, affects people from His servants. So when you hear about it, don't enter there (where it has broken out), and when it has broken out in a land and you are there, then don't run away from it.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ بْنِ قَعْنَبٍ وَقُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَا أَخْبَرَنَا الْمُغِيرَةُ وَنَسَبَهُ ابْنُ قَعْنَبٍ فَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْقُرَشِيُّ عَنْ أَبِي النَّضْرِ عَنْ عَامِرِ بْنِ سَعْدِ بْنِ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ عَنْ أُسَامَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الطَّاعُونُ آيَةُ الرِّجْزِ ابْتَلَى اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ بِهِ نَاسًا مِنْ عِبَادِهِ فَإِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ بِهِ فَلَا تَدْخُلُوا عَلَيْهِ وَإِذَا وَقَعَ بِأَرْضٍ وَأَنْتُمْ بِهَا فَلَا تَفِرُّوا مِنْهُ هَذَا حَدِيثُ الْقَعْنَبِيِّ وَقُتَيْبَةَ نَحْوُهُ

  عبداللہ بن مسلمہ بن قعنب اورقتیبہ بن سعید نے کہا : ہمیں مغیرہ بن عبدالرحمان قرشی نے ابو نضرسے حدیث بیان کی ، انھوں نےعامر بن سعد بن ابی وقاص سے رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے ، انھوں نے حضرت اسامہ بن زید رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت کی ، کہا : رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نےفرمایا : "" طاعون عذاب کی علامت ہے ، اللہ تعالیٰ نے اپنے بندوں میں کچھ لوگوں کو طاعون میں مبتلاکیا ، جب تم طاعون کے بارے میں سنو تو وہاں مت جاؤ اور جب اس سرزمین میں طاعون واقع ہوجائے جہاں تم ہوتو وہاں سے مت بھاگو ۔ "" یہ قعنبی کی حدیث ہے ، قتیبہ نے بھی اس طرح بیا ن کیاہے ۔
