Jabir b. Samura reported that Allah's Messenger ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) had a broad face with reddish (wide) eyes, and lean heels. Shu'ba reported: I said to Simak: What does this dali-ul-fam mean? And he said: This means broad face. I said: What does this ashkal mean? He said: Long in the slit of the eye. I said: What is this manhus-ul-aqibain? He said: It implies little flesh at the heels.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ - وَاللَّفْظُ لِابْنِ الْمُثَنَّى - قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ جَابِرَ بْنَ سَمُرَةَ، قَالَ: «كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ضَلِيعَ الْفَمِ، أَشْكَلَ الْعَيْنِ مَنْهُوسَ الْعَقِبَيْنِ» قَالَ: قُلْتُ لِسِمَاكٍ: مَا ضَلِيعُ الْفَمِ؟ قَالَ: «عَظِيمُ الْفَمِ»، قَالَ قُلْتُ: مَا أَشْكَلُ الْعَيْنِ؟ قَالَ: «طَوِيلُ شَقِّ الْعَيْنِ»، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: مَا مَنْهُوسُ الْعَقِبِ؟ قَالَ: «قَلِيلُ لَحْمِ الْعَقِبِ»

  سماک بن حرب نےکہا : میں نے حضرت جابر بن سمرۃ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے سنا ، انھوں نے کہا : کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کا دہن کشادہ تھا آنکھوں میں سرخ ڈورے چھوٹے ہوئے اور ایڑیاں کم گوشت والی تھیں ۔ سماک سے ( شعبہ نے ) پوچھا کہ ”ضلیع الفم“ کیا ہے؟ تو انہوں نے کہا کہ بڑا چہرہ ۔ پھر ( شعبہ ) نے کہا ”اشکل العین“ کیا ہے؟ تو انہوں نے کہا دراز شگاف آنکھوں کے ( لیکن سماک کا یہ کہنا غلط ہے اور صحیح وہی ہے کہ سفیدی میں سرخی ملی ہوئی ) شعبہ نے کہا ”منہوس العقبین“ کیا ہے تو انہوں نے کہا ایڑی پر کم گوشت والے ۔
