This hadith has been transmitted on the authority of Sa'd b. Ibrahim with a slight variation of wording.

حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ ‏.‏ مِثْلَهُ غَيْرَ أَنَّ فِي الْحَدِيثِ قَالَ سَعْدٌ فِي بَعْضِ هَذَا فِيمَا أَعْلَمُ ‏.‏

عبید اللہ بن معاذ کے والد نے کہا : ہمیں شعبہ نے سعد بن ابرا ہیم سے اسی سند کے ساتھ اسی کے مانند روایت کی ، مگر اس حدیث میں یہ ہے کہ سعد نے ان میں سے بعض قبائل کے بارے میں کہا : " میرے علم کے مطابق ۔ "
