Jabir b. Abdullah reported that Allah's Messenger ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) visited Umm Sa'ib or Umm Musayyib and said: Umm Sa'ib or Umm Musayyib. why is it that you are shivering? She said: It is fever and may it not be blessed by Allah, whereupon he (the Holy Prophet) said: Don't curse fever for it expiates the sin of the children of Adam just as furnace removes the alloy of iron.

حَدَّثَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْقَوَارِيرِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ حَدَّثَنَا الْحَجَّاجُ الصَّوَّافُ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ حَدَّثَنَا جَابِرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ دَخَلَ عَلَى أُمِّ السَّائِبِ أَوْ أُمِّ الْمُسَيَّبِ فَقَالَ مَا لَكِ يَا أُمَّ السَّائِبِ أَوْ يَا أُمَّ الْمُسَيَّبِ تُزَفْزِفِينَ قَالَتْ الْحُمَّى لَا بَارَكَ اللَّهُ فِيهَا فَقَالَ لَا تَسُبِّي الْحُمَّى فَإِنَّهَا تُذْهِبُ خَطَايَا بَنِي آدَمَ كَمَا يُذْهِبُ الْكِيرُ خَبَثَ الْحَدِيدِ

  ابوزبیر نے کہا : ہمیں حضرت جابر بن عبداللہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے حدیث بیان کی کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ( ایک انصاری خاتون ) حضرت ام سائب یا حضرت ام مسیب رضی اللہ عنہا کے ہاں تشریف لے گئے ، آپ نے فرمایا : " ام سائب یا ( فرمایا : ) ام مسیب! تہیں کیا ہوا؟ کیا تم شدت سے کانپ رہی ہو؟ " انہوں نے کہا : بخار ہے ، اللہ تعالیٰ اس میں برکت نہ دے! آپ نے فرمایا : " بخار کو برا نہ کہو ، کیونکہ یہ آدم کی اولاد کے گناہوں کو اس طرح دور کرتا ہے جس طرح بھٹی لوہے کے زنگ کو دور کرتی ہے ۔ "
