The aforesaid tradition has also been transmitted by Aban bin Uthman on the authority of Uthman from the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم in a similar manner. This version adds “And he should not make a betrothal”

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَهُمْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مَطَرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ويَعْلَى بْنِ حَكِيمٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ نَافِعٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ نُبَيْهِ بْنِ وَهْبٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبَانَ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عُثْمَانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ذَكَرَ مِثْلَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏زَادَ:‏‏‏‏ وَلَا يَخْطُبُ .

اس سند سے بھی عثمان رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے کہا پھر راوی نے اسی کے مثل ذکر کیا البتہ اس میں انہوں نے «ولا يخطب» ( نہ شادی کا پیغام دے ) کے لفظ کا اضافہ کیا ہے ۱؎۔
