حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَنْبَلٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْمُحَارِبِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ الشَّيْبَانِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ وَاصِلٍ الْأَحْدَبِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ شَقِيقٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ شَيْبَةَ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عُثْمَانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَعَدَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فِي مَقْعَدِكَ الَّذِي أَنْتَ فِيهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ لَا أَخْرُجُ حَتَّى أَقْسِمَ مَالَ الْكَعْبَةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قُلْتُ:‏‏‏‏ مَا أَنْتَ بِفَاعِلٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ بَلَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏لَأَفْعَلَنَّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قُلْتُ:‏‏‏‏ مَا أَنْتَ بِفَاعِلٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ لِمَ قُلْتُ ؟ لِأَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَدْ رَأَى مَكَانَهُ وَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ وَهُمَا أَحْوَجُ مِنْكَ إِلَى الْمَالِ فَلَمْ يُخْرِجَاهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَامَ فَخَرَجَ .

Urdu Translation

شیبہ بن عثمان کہتے ہیں کہ   عمر بن خطاب رضی اللہ عنہ اس جگہ بیٹھے جہاں تم بیٹھے ہو اور کہا: میں باہر نہیں نکلوں گا جب تک کہ کعبہ کا مال ۱؎ ( محتاج مسلمانوں میں ) تقسیم نہ کر دوں، میں نے کہا: آپ ایسا نہیں کر سکتے، فرمایا: کیوں نہیں، میں ضرور کروں گا، میں نے کہا: آپ ایسا نہیں کر سکتے، وہ بولے: کیوں؟ میں نے کہا: اس لیے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اس مال کی جگہ دیکھی، ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ نے بھی دیکھ رکھی تھی، اور وہ دونوں اس مال کے آپ سے زیادہ حاجت مند تھے لیکن انہوں نے اسے نہیں نکالا، یہ سن کر عمر کھڑے ہوئے اور باہر نکل آئے۔

English Translation

Shaibah bin Uthman said “Umar bin Al Khattab was sitting in the place where you are sitting. He said I shall not go out until I distribute the property of The Kaabah. I said “You will not do it. ” He asked “Why?” I said “For the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم and Abu Bakr had seen its place and they were more in need of the property than you, but they did not take it out. He (Umar) stood up and went out. ”
